Another example of how the best laid plan never survives initial contact....

Beavis and Buttheada wanted to bump off some cops. Didn't work well.
San Angelo Couple, Gary And Brenda Wright, Set Up Ambush To Murder San Angelo Officers

Gary And Brenda Wright Charged

San Angelo, TX – A San Angelo couple, Gary and Brenda Wright, are in jail after planning an ambush against San Angelo Police Officers.

According to CW33, the incident occurred January 13, 2017 at the Wright residence in San Angelo. Gary, age 67, and Brenda, age 60, planned the ambush for weeks after they decided they were unhappy with life and especially with the manner in which the San Angelo Police Department handled a traffic crash. The couple viewed this as “the last straw” and put into place the plan they had spent weeks making.

But as plans often do, theirs did not go the way they wanted it to. Gary Wright called two local TV stations and told them to send reporters and “have their cameras ready.” He then called 911, told the dispatcher to send police because he intended to have a standoff and kill police officers, and asked for the neighborhood to be evacuated.

Mr. and Mrs. Wright, in the business we call that a "clue."
The house was set on fire by one of the suspects. Brenda Wright then hid in the bathroom, with a shotgun, waiting on San Angelo Officers. She was not able to stay in the bathroom due to smoke from the fire. Upon arrival, San Angelo Officers found Gary Wright near the front of the home, armed with a rifle. Brenda Wright was nearby. Gary refused to drop his weapon after repeated commands by the Officers, and was shot.

Gary and Brenda Wright were both transported to a local hospital for treatment. Brenda was discharged that same day and charged with Attempted Capital Murder of a Police Officer. Her bond was set at $250,000 Gary Wright was arrested on January 25, 2017 also for Attempted Capital Murder of a Police Officer, and is being held in the Tom Green County Jail with no bond.

On the day of the incident, after the scene was secured, Fire Marshal Ross Coleman found eight jars full of gasoline, screws, and syringe needles inside the home. Several aerosol containers placed around the home had exploded during the fire...

Again, can't get any good help these days! :<)

Good to hear no officers were harmed in the filming of this movie!
